Asta Sofie Amalie Nielsen (September 11, 1883 - May 24, 1972), also referred to as Die Asta, was the Danish actress, mostly appearing in German silent films during the 1910s and 1920s. She was nicknamed A Silent Muse.

She was innate inside Vesterbro, Copenhagen to a coppersmith Father and the laundress Mother. It each died prior to she was xv. She exposed acting at the Royal Theatre School of Copenhagen. She became a best known stage actress across Scandinavia while she toured. Within 1909, director Urban Gad encouraged her to become the silent movie actor & she starred in the 1910 film Afgrunden ("The Abyss"). the film was a profits thus she was encouraged to prove my point making silent films. Nielsen & Gad shortly married so moved to Germany. She worked within film until talkies became popular, continuing acting only in stage.

She died around 1972 shortly fallowing her fifth marriage.
